Badger snared and shot in the South Downs National Park
In July, 2019 we investigated a badger that was snared and shot in the South Downs National Park at Winslade, Hampshire. Police interviewed a gamekeeper under caution following our evidence, but the suspect was not prosecuted.
A number of our supporters wrote polite letters to the landowner, Viscount Lymington.
We are pleased to say he has contacted NASC and states:
“Snaring is not allowed on our land and I deplore this cruel act”
The gamekeepers “do not remain in post as their employer is no longer the estate’s shoot tenant.”
